Bio: George Washington was the first President of the United States after leading the Continental Army to victory over the United Kingdom during the American Revolutionary War from 1775 to 1783. As well as leading the United States to independence he also presided over the first draft of the United States Constitution. He became widely admired for his strong leadership qualities, which resulted in a well-financed and internationally strong Government.
